Why We Must Plant Churches
Church Planting Advances the Mission
Church planting is not ultimately about launching events, creating organizations, or building a brand. It is about establishing healthy local churches where people hear the gospel, follow Jesus, live in Christian community, and are sent on mission.
God’s means for the advancement of the gospel in our time is the multiplication of new, healthy churches where the Scriptures are open, the gospel is proclaimed, and the mission is moved forward locally and globally.
The Local Church Is Central to the Mission
Jesus sends his people to make disciples, and those disciples are gathered, formed, cared for, and sent through local churches. In the church, the gospel is proclaimed, believers grow in community, leaders are developed, neighbors are served, and missionaries and new churches are sent.
We plant churches because healthy local churches create enduring gospel presence in communities that need the hope of Jesus.
Mission Is Shared Work
The New Testament presents mission as shared work. Churches send. Leaders serve together. Partners pray, give, encourage, and strengthen one another.
The church at Antioch discerned God’s call, set apart leaders, and sent them into mission. Antioch Partners exists because faithful church planting still requires more than individual vision. It requires meaningful partnership.
Launching Is Not the Same as Building Healthy
A church can gather a crowd and still lack the foundations required for long-term health. Faithful church planting requires spiritual health, biblical conviction, clear priorities, healthy leadership, sustainable funding, effective communication, and systems that serve people rather than burden them.
We help planters build carefully so that launch day becomes a beginning, not the finish line. Too many couples focus on the wedding and forget about the marriage. The same idea is true with the church.
Healthy Churches Multiply Gospel Mission
We want to help plant churches that do more than survive. We want to help build churches that make disciples, develop leaders, send missionaries, serve their communities, and eventually participate in planting other churches.
New churches are planted so that more people can know Jesus—and so that those churches can join the work of sending others.
